VReduMED 5th Steering Committee Meeting – Regensburg, Germany

The 5th Steering Committee Meeting of the VReduMED project took place in the beautiful city of Regensburg, Germany, at 8-9 July, marking another significant milestone in the progress of our collaborative efforts. The event was hosted with warm hospitality and professionalism by Strategische Partnerschaft Sensorik e.V. and OTH Regensburg.

The meeting began with a heartfelt welcome on the day of arrival, where participants were greeted with openness and enthusiasm. A guided sightseeing tour through Regensburg, led by Nicole Litzel, set the tone for the days ahead, offering cultural context and a relaxed opportunity to connect before diving into the project work. It was an inspiring prelude to what became a productive and energizing two-day meeting.

The first official day of the Steering Committee Meeting was packed with engaging activities and collaborative exchanges. Partners shared updates on project status, pilot implementations, fostering open dialogue and idea-sharing. One of the highlights was a presentation by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Stadler, offering insightful perspectives on immersive technologies and their role in education.

Participants also had the opportunity to explore hands-on demonstrations in the “Skills Lab” and the “Anatomage” virtual anatomy lab at OTH Regensburg. These visits sparked meaningful discussions about the progress of pilot actions and future applications.

A productive day of knowledge exchange was concluded with an enjoyable dinner at Brauhaus am Schloss, strengthening our cooperation.

The second day of the meeting brought a strong focus on strategic alignment and forward planning. Teams worked on refining the implementation strategy for Periods 5 and 6, reviewed the status of ongoing pilot actions, and exchanged best practices and ideas from various project sites, including the South Bohemian Science and Technology Park, corp., the OTH Regensburg, and the Széchenyi István University.

One of the key sessions was an Ideation Workshop, facilitated with the support of Business Upper Austria – OÖ. Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH, where participants collaboratively explored new VR concepts and potential innovations.

Communication efforts were also in the spotlight, with detailed discussions about deliverables and visibility actions.

The 5th Steering Committee Meeting concluded with shared enthusiasm, a stronger common vision, and a renewed commitment to the project’s next steps. We express special thanks to our hosts for their excellent organization and support throughout the event. The past days have once again demonstrated the strength of cross-border collaboration and the shared ambition to innovate in medical education through immersive technologies.
